Kensuke was in one word, bored. After Eva Unit 0 blew up, taking out most of Tokyo 3 in the process, there wasn't much to do. Sure now he was living inside the GEO front because his Dad work for NERV and couldn't exactly be relocated to Tokyo 2 with most the other survivors and that was kind of neat. But there was nothing to do! Shinji was at NERV headquarters all the time and Toji was in NERV's hospital. Kensuke sighed. He could visit Toji but then he'd also see Hikari and she seemed more upset at the injuries Toji received from EVA Unit 3 being corrupted by an Angel than Toji did himself. Well, Kensuke wasn't about to tell her that the injuries were actually from EVA Unit 1 ripping it to shreds. Kensuke didn't blame Shinji, it had to be done, otherwise everyone would be dead. But seeing Hikari's sad look and Toji lying in that bed, led to another feeling besides boredom. He'd feel helpless, and he rather be bored than that. Kensuke was still bored though, and he wanted to do something. Maybe there would be something interesting to hack into from NERV intelligence. His fingers buzzed away at the keyboard. "Oh... MY... *GOD*!!!!" Kensuke screamed, seeing one of NERV's latest reports. The Angels were going to begin an invasion, and soon. The predicted landing points were all over the world. But the brunt of the probable first wave was right where he was- the GEO front. He gulped, as he noted that all first landing sights were now in a countdown. Within the hour, many places around the world become glass from the intense blasts from N2 mines. Kensuke then checked the status of the Evangelions. Nine new EVAs and all in route. A couple quick key stokes and his suspicions were verified. They were coming here. But who were the pilots? A few keystrokes and he had his answer. Even Yume was reluctant, but Yume's father and the statements of how badly they needed pilots. They were able to talk them into letting Yume pilot. Here they were about to go trough it again. The door open to a kid with glasses wearing combat fatigues and a duffel bag swung over his shoulder. "Kensuke Ida, reporting for duty!" The NERV ops blinked. "Um, were here to recruit you to pilot an Evangelion...." one of them started to say. "I know! You're here to get me to pilot Evangelion Unit 5!" "Ah, right." "At least this one was easy," the other op said.
