Several other companies that I am not involved with own Digimon. That is why I’m in a constant state of Depression. The human characters in this story are my property. This story is set in Lord Archive’s Diaries Universe and has been approved by him. Sadly, Lord Archive isn’t getting any money off this either. Nomadic Diaries Written by Digizane Desperation Thursday July 17, 2003 Digital World Cholon dragged his barely conscious digimon partner across the rocky ground of the digital desert. Not in much better shape than Bearmon, he wanted to find safe haven before another wild digimon attacked them. They found shelter in a small cave and were about to settle down for some much needed rest. Neither realized another presence approaching until a figure stood peering down on them. A figure wearing a tan cloak approached the Chosen and digimon. Cholon jumped back startled. Bearmon moved between his partner and the figure. Cholon gasped, “Who are you?” The figure removed his hood. “A friend. My name is Illya.” Friday July 18, 2003 Apartment in Ulaanbaatar Oyon was bored. Her mother was at work, and her grandparents were in the next room, making sure she didn’t go outside to play. The young girl had been abandoning her studies and sometimes ruining the frilly green dresses her mother insisted on having her wear. Mrs. Saihan had been disappointed and upset, so Oyon’s grandparents were babysitting her at the moment. Having spent a lot of the time with them earlier in the day, Oyon was reading to pass the time. She’d already sent a message to the other Chosen to inform them of her lateness. She carefully peaked through the crack in the door again. Oyon couldn’t believe her luck. They’d fallen asleep. Oyon couldn’t help but giggle a little at how comfortable the two looked snuggled up against each other snoring. Glancing once more to be sure, Oyon slipped out the door and headed for the computer store. Digital World Labramon rested, basking in the sun. Elecmon and Tsukaimon were nearby, playing in a full game of tag. The pink-eared canine blinked one eye as the nearby television set lit up. The light shaped into a figure the dog was familiar with, Oyon. “Hi!” Oyon chirped. She looked around for her older companions. “Where are Battsetseg and Buhbatar? Weren’t we suppose to meet in this region today?” Tsukaimon and Elecmon stopped playing, and Labramon’s spoke. “We thought you would know. You mean you haven‘t heard or seen them?” Oyon shook her head. Tsukaimon and Elecmon sagged. A confused Elecmon asked. “What’ll we do?” Tsukaimon hovered in front of the small child and looked into her eyes. “Yeah, we were suppose to visit a village of Agumon and see what we could find about Doumon today.” Oyon typed a message on her D-Terminal a few moments later got her answers. Buhbatar and Battsetseg had the typical chores that were associated with being nomads. The two wouldn’t be able to get to the city for some time. “Well, Buhbatar and Battsetseg got behind in their chores today. They won’t be able to get here for some time. Sorry,” Oyon reported. Tsukaimon and Elecmon sighed in disappointment. Tsukaimon came up with an idea. “Okay, if that’s the case, we’ll wait here and you two go speak with the Agumon village. We can meet back here.” “I don’t know…” Labramon started. “Labramon, why not? Oyon can evolve you if you run into danger. We have to wait here in case our partners arrive. You two might as well see if that group of Agumon can be helpful.” Tsukaimon explained. Oyon and Labramon had no more arguments about the plan and headed out. Digital World Hours Later… Her lack of luck was unbelievable. First, Oyon’s mother had put her under surveillance by her grandparents for a few hours. Second, none of her other teammates had shown up. Third, she’d barely managed to get out of distance from the meeting area when a sand storm occurred. She and Labramon had hid in a nearby cave to avoid the harsh winds. They had been trapped for a couple of hours. Though it had been a comfortable place to rest. The cave wasn’t cold, dark and damp. It was actually cool with small crystals that lined the wall, illuminating the passage. With nowhere else to go the two had decided to carefully investigate what was further back in the cave. The walls of the cave shook without warning. “What was that?” Oyon wondered nervously aloud. The cause of the vibration made itself known with a roar. They had discovered a hungry Grizzmon was hoping to make them into a meal. “Oyon. Run.” Labramon squeaked, although where to run was a question. The large grizzly staggered against the dog’s sonic blasts until flinging her against the rock wall. Before he could finish drawing back the claw threatening to turn her into coleslaw, the canine bowled into the beast. Watching in fear and doubt, the youngest Mongolian Chosen watched as Labramon was taking a beating to protect her. The young child knew what was required but was unsure if she was ready. However, there was one absolute truth she knew. Labramon wasn’t going to die because of her. A familiar light surrounded Labramon, and a shriek was heard from Oyon’s D3. “Labramon evolve! Dobermon!” A sleek Doberman with a silver spiked collar replaced the pink-eared white dog. Dobermon immediately launched herself at her foe and sank her teeth into him. The bear roared in pain and flung the dog aside. The slender build and stronger muscles allowed Dobermon to bounce off the wall and slam into the bear. Grizzmon hit his head against the wall and was knocked out. Dobermon barely reverted back to Labramon before being grabbed in hug. Oyon squealed happily, “You were amazing Labramon!” Labramon happily snuggled against her partner, also glad that both of them were safe. “Maul Attack!” Oyon found herself knocked along the ground by her partner. The scrapes she’d received went unnoticed as the angry bear again attacked her digimon. The blows rained down on the dog until she was still. “Labramon!” Oyon cried in despair. Her hands enclosed on her D3. The connection between them was still there, but faint. She backed further away from the threatening creature. Labramon sprang up as an energy that had just faded entered her again. Dobermon once again stood in her place. Grizzmon shielded his eyes against the light and found himself tackled to the ground by Dobermon. With her attacker pinned down, the feral dog opened her mouth and unleashed a stream of black fire on the beast. “Schwarz Strahl!” Having no room to dodge, Grizzmon was engulfed instantly and shattered into small bits of data. Oyon approached her tense and still feral partner. Only after the last of the data had disappeared did the large vicious canine shrink down to Labramon. “I’m so sorry. You could have been killed. I should have been more careful and finished him,” Labramon sobbed into the girl‘s chest, still panting heavily. Unsure what to do, her human partner simply continued to gently stroke her fur. “You can’t blame yourself. You couldn’t kill until I allowed you to. So I should be apologizing to you. It’s not your fault. We’ll just both have to be more careful about things in the future,” Oyon reasoned, hoping that her words would somehow help. After a few moments, the two collected themselves and headed for the way out. Fortunately, the winds were now back to normal. All that remained was a small gust of wind that blew by and seemed to refresh them. Oyon considered her own words while thinking about to the events of that had just happened. Despite the impossibility, she’d had killed a digimon for the first time It had all happened so fast and almost didn‘t seem real. Worse yet, she couldn’t feel bad when considering the situation. Had Labramon failed to stop the Grizzmon, both of them would have killed. Still, the young child hoped to not have to kill again soon. However, Oyon knew that it was inevitable, and she would have to protect her friends. Her D-Terminal beeping indicated a message from Battsetseg asking about their current safety. Buhbatar and Battsetseg had arrived and found Cholon waiting for them. After a small discussion, everyone had concluded it was better to have four team members than three. Battsetseg wanted to know if Oyon objected to the group’s decision. Oyon decided to agree with the decision, but wasn’t exactly thrilled about it. Everyone then agreed to meet her at the T.V. After traveling back to the meeting area, Oyon found her friends. She recalled her adventure to the others, and they listened. Battsetseg was assured everything was fine after appearing concerned for the younger girl. Cholon was as usual neutral on the matter. Buhbatar concluded that they meet back at the same place to begin their quest again. While Bearmon and the other Chosen digimon got reacquainted, the four Mongolian children turned to the T.V. set and returned to the real world. Real World The four decided to meet in the same area and visit the Agumon village the next day. Battsetseg and Buhbatar went to search for a ride back to the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar. Cholon traveled down a dark alley and stayed close to the walls while doing so. Having said her farewells to her friends, Oyon headed for her apartment. Walking a couple of blocks before she felt the warmth of someone’s hand grab her wrist. She remembered that the digital sandstorm had caused her to be gone longer than expected. She also knew the owner of the hand. “Oyon,” Mrs. Saihan spoke calmly to her daughter while her body language and facial expression indicated anger. Author’s notes: Next time: Between A Rock And A Hot Spot - Can Battsetseg bring herself to kill when up against some rowdy Boarmon? Digizane! What happened between the Stingmon battle and Cholon’s visit from Illya? Also, what did Illya say to Cholon to make him rejoin the group? I needed to cut those parts for a later. Till Next Time.
