Digimon is owned by several other companies that I am not involved with. That is why I'm in a constant state of Depression. The human characters in this story are my property. This story is set in Lord Archive's Diaries Universe and has been approved by him. Sadly, Lord Archive isn't getting any money off this either. Nomadic Diaries Written by Digizane Uncertainly and An Evolution The air of the Digital World was somehow odd. The taste and smell was familiar yet different. Cholon realized this as he wandered around a barren area filled with nothing but rocks. Bearmon would happily bounce from one rock to another in a playful fashion. Cholon simply ignored his antics and continued walking. "Come on Cholon, I can see why you'd want to stay here, but surely something good remains in the real world," figured Bearmon. Bearmon was currently doing a handstand on a large rock and peering at Cholon. Cholon was a little grateful for the company but failed to show it. Strolling on, Bearmon hopped off the rock and followed after him. A pair of unseen eyes watched the two as they continued on. ----------------- July 17, 2003 The Outskirts of Ulaanbaatar The shining sun indicated that noon had come. A small gust of wind picked up and scattered small pebbles across the dirt. Two figures stood by an empty road waiting a form of transportation to take them to their destination. "Care to talk about it?" Battsetseg tried noticing her friend‘s look of annoyance. "Not really," replied Buhbatar. He then noticed a look in her eyes that held concern and curiosity. Buhbatar conceded. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt though." "What is it?" Battsetseg asked. "It's just that boy that's one of us," Buhbatar admitted. "You mean Cholon? Is he what you're worried about?" Battsetseg wondered. "Yes, I'm afraid that he might jeopardize our teamwork. He's so rude that I find it hard to believe he has Mongol blood. Every time we've approached him and been nice to him, he's pushed us away. I just don't think that I can tolerate anymore from him if he shows up again," Buhbatar confessed. "That's what you're worried about? Buhbatar, you've always displayed enough self control with regards to situations like that. Besides I'm sure Cholon will come around eventually. I‘m certain things will find a way to work out," Battsetseg said reassuringly. The conversation was halted since an old pickup truck stopped to give them a ride. The two climbing into the back of the truck containing a small variety of livestock remains. Battsetseg hid her disgust and turned to Buhbatar. "So you won't hurt Cholon next time we see him, will you?" Battsetseg asked innocently. Buhbatar shook his head in response and climbed in. Before Buhbatar sat down, Battsetseg could have sworn she heard him mutter ‘much.' The truck took off at that moment, and she decided to not to bother for that moment. ----------------- Digital World The three Mongolian children had been wandering around the Digital World for a few hours. They had been looking for clues as to the mysterious Doumon and his minions. They had seen a couple of various Digimon during their travels. Uncertain of the Digimon and their strange companions, the Digimon had decided to mind their own business and not cause trouble. Since their feet were starting to hurt from hiking in boots all day and the clothes on their backs were sticking to their skin because of the heat, the three children decided to stop and take a break. The spot they had picked was on a grassy hill. The wind would occasionally pick up and give them a refreshing breeze. The kids had been smart enough from previous visits to bring a water canteen with each of them. Battsetseg didn't want their Digimon to miss a drink and had brought a small wooden bowel to pour water into. The Digimon gladly drank away while their human partners also had a drink. "So you humans actually have creatures like us in your world?" asked a curious Tsukaimon. "Not exactly," Buhbatar said and took a sip. "But you said something about Sheepmon and Goatmon," Elecmon agreed. Battsetseg giggled a little at the small mistake of her partner. "No, we were talking about sheep and goats. They aren't actually Digimon." "Basically, the animals in the real world are counter parts to Digimon that exist here. Kind of like how I thought you were a vicious dog about to attack me, Labramon," Oyon explained and then noticed her partner stop taking laps of water. "Labramon?" The three Digimon suddenly tensed up. A growl was heard behind them. The three Mongolian children slowly turned around, hoping that the noise was simply their imagination. A beast stood in the distance. A giant white wolf with blue stripes peered hungrily at the children and their Child level Digimon. "It's a Garurumon. An Adult level Digimon," Oyon noted. She had asked Labramon and been to the message board to learn of the many Digimon types. She had been right in assuming her small group would run into a lot of them during the course of their adventures. Buhbatar, Battsetseg and their respective partners stood defensively, yet unsure of whether to attack first. Blue flames erupted from the Garurumon's mouth. ----------------- "Come on Cholon. Smile for me," his mother playfully teased him. She then tickled him in a desperate effort to force him to smile. Cholon's mother had always tried to get him to stop being so serious. It was a trait Cholon had apparently inherited from his father according to her. His mother was the only one who could get him to laugh. Although, it was difficult putting up with a child who could be so serious. An eight year old Cholon flashed a quick smile for his mother. It would make his mother happy and get her to stop harassing him. "That's my boy," his mother said and kissed her son, much to his dismay. Disgusted by her show of affection, Cholon brushed his cheek with his hand . His mother just laughed. "Cholon?" Bearmon's voice snapped Cholon from his trance and back to the present. Cholon shook his head and looked at his surrounding area. Bearmon and Cholon had been traveling calmly through the Digital world and came upon a patch of white, blue and pink flowers. The aroma had captivated him, and he had started to remember how his mother had always enjoyed looking at flowers. His mother had always respected nature enough to look but not pick the flowers. "What's wrong Cholon? Why did you stop?" a concerned Bearmon asked. "It's alright, I was just thinking about something," Cholon confessed. A sudden noise alerted the two that they weren't alone. They uneasily turned toward the source. A green humanoid insect knocked a group trees and stepped in front of them menacingly. "A Stingmon. This insect Digimon is deadly and fast too," Bearmon noted. "Don't worry Cholon. Even though it's an Adult, I should be able to handle it." Bearmon rolled into a ball and slammed into the Stingmon which casually knocked Bearmon aside with no effort. A dazed Bearmon got up and staggered around. Cholon sweat-dropped. "I think we're in trouble here." Bearmon shook his head and stared down the Stingmon. The giant insect then let out a malevolent chuckle and advanced toward the pair. ----------------- "Come up with any good strategies yet, Buhbatar?" Battsetseg asked while the three children hid behind a set of rocks and watched a loosing battle between their partners and the Garurumon. The large wolf swatted Tsukaimon into Labramon, and the two struggled to get up. A small jolt of electricity ran down Garurumon's spine, and he opened fire on Elecmon. She quickly dodged but went flying from the force of the attack. "Aside from ‘run for our lives' no." Buhbatar admitted and then turned to Oyon. "Oyon, do you have any ideas?" The Garurumon turned to the gathered children and leapt toward them. "Running for our lives sounds good right now!" Oyon exclaimed. The three kids dove out the way as the wolf's paws scattered the rocks that they had been hiding behind. A cloud of dust formed around the area. The dust began to settle down, and the Garurmon growled. The three children and their Digimon companions lay scattered about. They struggled to get up. The wolf looked over his prey wondering which one would to eat. Garurumon made his choice and rushed toward his target. "Buhbatar! Look out!" Battsetseg shouted to her friend, hoping Buhbatar would get away. Buhbatar remained in his position, too afraid to move. "Buh…bat…ar, no," moaned Tsukaimon. He staggered to his four feet as a light engulfed him. Buhbatar's eyes widened. Battsetseg, Elecmon, Oyon and Labramon watched with an increased interest. "Tsukaimon evolve! Unimon! " A gray unicorn with black wings and a red mask stood in Tsukaimon's place. Unimon slammed into the Garurumon in an effort to protect his partner. The Garurumon used his paws to skid to a halt and turn to glare at Unimon. The two Digimon continued to stare down the other. Finally, Garurumon broke the silence with a stream of blue fire. Unimon jumped into the air and flew at his opponent. His hoof struck the wolf and knocked it to the ground. Garurumon shook his head to clear it and unleashed his attack again. Battsetseg approached Buhbatar and placed a hand on his shoulder. "I'm fine," he confirmed. Oyon watched the battle while writing a few notes on a notepad that she'd brought. Unimon reacted too slow and was slammed into the nearby stone wall of a cliff. Figuring that he would finally get his meal, the Garurumon pounced on Unimon. Pinned down by one of the wolf's giant paws, Unimon struggled against it. Unimon's mouth built up energy and launched it upward. "Holy Shot!" cried Unimon. Garurumon lowered his mouth to take a nice juicy bite of his victim's head when a couple of pebbles dropped on his head followed by a few larger rocks. Taking advantage of his foe's distraction, Unimon struck Garurumon in the jaw with his free hoof. Unimon then jumped out of the way as a group of boulders crashed down, burying the Garurumon. Unimon landed next to Buhbatar and shrunk back to a tired Tsukaimon. The small flying hamster spoke to his partner, "Are you alright Buhbatar? Did I do good?" Buhbatar picked up Tsukaimon and stroked him gently. Buhbatar whispered, "You did fine Tsukaimon. Thank you for saving me." "No problem. That's what we partners do." Tsukaimon murmured. The others stood by unsure what to do. After a few moments of awkward silence, Buhbatar said, "Let's head home." As they were leaving, a sudden wind picked up and carried dirt and small pebbles along with it. A familiar howl bellowed through the air. They turned to see that the Garurumon had managed to dig his way out and was looking at the group menacingly. Elecmon and Labramon stood defensively in front of their partners. Everyone else looked on while wondering the next move. The Garurumon howled. He then fell over. "He passed out. The battle must have wore him out," noted Labramon. Oyon spoke for the others. "What should we do with him? It's a long way back to the portal. He could come hunt us down sometime later if we leave him," She reasoned. Everyone turned to Buhbatar. He was wondering the same thing. If they killed him, they would have shed blood for no reason. The beast was currently of no harm to them. It would have been a completely different story if the beast was up and attacking them. Buhbatar searched the expressions of the others. Tsukaimon was almost asleep. The other Digimon seemed just as lost with regards to the decision. Oyon seemed neutral. Battsetseg leaned toward and tugged on his arm. He already knew where she stood of the subject, but he needed to decide himself. Buhbatar gently yet suddenly broke away from her and approached the massive beast. He watched as the wolf's chest heaved up and down. Buhbatar followed his instincts and made his decision. "We'll leave him alone for now. We should try to avoid unnecessary loss of life if we can help it," Buhbatar explained. Battsetseg gave a sigh of relief. The others accepted the decision and turned toward the direction the Digiport was located. Buhbatar continued to look over at the sleeping wolf until rejoining the group. ----------------- Elsewhere in the Digital World… The insect Digimon looked down where a bruised Cholon was lying barely conscious. Bearmon was struggling to get up behind Stingmon. Cholon's mind raced for a way out of the situation before him. He heard Bearmon's cry in the background. Stingmon buzzed happily as it flew at Cholon. ----------------- July 17, 2003 Well, another day and another adventure. For reasons that I have yet to discover, I was put in position to be leader. I assumed it was because I was the oldest male of the group. That didn't seem right to me though. Though, after today, I was able to evolve my partner Tsukaimon to the Adult level of Unimon before anyone else. That apparently counts for something. According to Oyon, at least. My assumption is confirmed by the fact that I was put in position whether or not to kill a wild Digimon that attacked us. Tsukaimon believes in me, but I still don't know. If the others also believe me to be a good enough leader, I suppose I should just do it and pray that no one gets killed. Buhbatar Davaa Buhbatar closed the little book that would be used as his personal journal. After the life threatening events of that afternoon, he had decided to log events concerning the adventures of his team. This way he could confirm that he wasn't going insane and look back at and see how any mistakes could have avoided. It also served as a tie to his memories of the Digimon and Digital World. Maybe if Buhbatar was lucky, he could later sell it and make some money off it too. Buhbatar sighed as he climbed into bed and closed his eyes to get as much rest as he could. The next day hopefully wouldn't be a repeat, but one could never be sure. ----------------- Author's notes: I think this is a good place to stop. Yes, I'm an evil bastard. I had a rough day when I finished this chapter. Next time: Desperation - Oyon is driven to fight a Grizzmon alone. Meanwhile, Cholon meets a friend of the Chosen/Digidestined and makes a decision. Hitch Hiking in Mongolia? Since the Mongols are trustworthy people, a ride to some strangers isn't that big a deal. The Nomads even invite people into their homes and give them a meal if they see them coming. Their generosity seems to know no bounds. They like getting to know lots of people and make friends with them. Relationships with other people are more important than possessions. Most of them believe this, but there are a few Mongols who don't and lock up their homes. I'm not going to beg for reviews. I always hope someone would like what I write, if not that's okay. I'm also doing this for my own enjoyment and to hopefully offer a good expansion of Lord Archive's Diaries Universe. I want to improve and be less irritating for the ones who proof read my stuff. But if you do review, please also refrain from insults. I enjoy comments and suggestions. Details too. Does anyone still know what Constructive Criticism is? Until next time.
