Digimon is owned by several other companies that I am not involved with. That is why I'm in a constant state of Depression. The human characters in this story are my property. This story is set in Lord Archive's Diaries Universe and has been approved by him. Sadly, Lord Archive isn't getting any money off this either. Nomadic Diaries Written by Digizane The Team Gathered A stone and wood temple rested upon the flat of a hill. The structure was not unlike a Buddhist temple found in an Asian country. Stone stairs traveled down the hill to a small valley nearby. A calm and peaceful aura would usually lay around it. Now, it was currently under attack. The sound of screams and explosions shattered the quiet of the Digital World. Groups of Shamanmon and Sorcerymon rushed to defend the treasure that lay within. Shouts of attacks and warnings rang out as all parties involved launched themselves into a desperate battle neither certain who would survive. A group of Shamanmon tossed their clubs at an annoyed Dark Tryranomon. The giant dinosaur got tired of them and crushed them under its foot. Sorcerymon chanted protection spells to protect themselves and comrades from another similar fate. While this went on, a shadow swiftly entered the temple unnoticed. Seemingly floating down the halls of the sacred building, it came to its destination. An altar containing a multicolored orb sparkled with an eerie glow. A beam of light nearly struck down on the intruder. The shadow darted back avoiding loosing its hand by inches. The attack belonged to a Buddhist priest Digimon named Taomon who gave a deadly glare to the intruder. The shadow reverted to a more familiar form after realizing its cover was blow. Doumon lazily looked over at the Taomon before speaking. "Hello, Taomon. How goes the guarding of the precious orb?" Taomon seemed unfazed as he spoke. " I know what reason you have to be here and it is forbidden. The cost for such an act is deletion. Prepare yourself." Not another word was spoken before the twin Digimon attacked. It was an odd spectacle having two similar Digimon fighting with paint brushes. Both then would hurl spells at one another to the near point of exhaustion. Eventually, the two were at a standstill with neither willing to be defeated. Taomon fell to one knee and spoke. "Leave here with your life and never come back. I'll allow you this mercy only once." Doumon stood uncertain for a moment as if trying to reach a decision. He then tossed a piece of paper back at Taomon. The Taomon felt a surge of energy and fell to the floor paralyzed. His opponent no longer a concern, Doumon stoked the orb and silently marveled at the beauty of it. Doumon looked down his helpless foe and muttered. "Hopefully you'll be smarter after being reformatted and chose to join me next time." Taomon was instantly deleted. Doumon laughed at the fallen Digimon and left the temple with unholy plans in mind. ----------------- The Real World July 11, 2003 It was a beautiful sight. The sun lit up the cloudless blue sky that stretched on forever in every direction. The animals would munch the green landscape composed of thousands of individual ground-hugging weeds and grass. The mountains and hills in the distance with rounded off peaks instead of sharp jagged ones surrounded the large plateau. This scene was common outside of the cities and was part of the natural beauty of Mongolia. The cities were a different story though. In Ulaanbaatar, everyone was busy hurrying about. Cars and pedestrians seemed to be playing bullfighters and bulls with the way the drivers came inches away from hitting people. Buses would slow to a crouch as people jumped off from the front and middle doors. The people wanting on would push the person in front to ensure both got on through the back door. With enough people on, the door would quickly close, and the bus would speed off. While all this was going on, a young girl sat alone on a bench near a computer store. Battsetseg Gansukh was a normal twelve year old Mongolian girl. She had the typical golden dark skin. She had black hair which was hung in a short ponytail held by a light blue ribbon. Her brown eyes held a caring spirit. Battsetseg wore a blue Mongolian del or deel with a matching sash. A Mongolian deel was a three-quarter-gown that buttoned on the right shoulder to a high round necked collar. It was usually made of cotton lined with sheepskin for winter. In the summer, it was made of silk. A sash hung around the waist. Cotton undergarments were worn beneath for insured warmth. Boots usually went with the outfit. These outfits were not uncommon in the cities of Mongolia but were seen less as people started to prefer European style clothes. As she sighed, she wondered what had happened to her companion she wanted to bring to the events. The digital clock in the window said her friend was twenty minutes late. She wanted to bring him with her to the see the fun and excitement of the Naadam festival. Naadam was a three-day festival where the people of Mongolia remembered their ancestors' past times as herders and nomads. The name itself came from the word /naadakh/ meaning to play or competition. The events consisted of the opening ceremony and the three manly sports' - wrestling, archery and horseback riding. Although, women could enter archery and horseback riding. The participates of these events were children ranging from as young as five to twelve. Wrestlers had no age limit. People of these events wore the traditional clothes of their ancestors the entire time. Her friend was Buhbatar Davaa, and she had had known him since the two had been five. Buhbatar was also twelve. Since Buhbatar was a few months older, he had no shame reminding her at times and the fact that he stood about a foot taller than her. He was also a Mongolian child and had short black hair and blue eyes. Sadly, she wasn't going to make the opening of the festival. The opening was about all she cared for on the first day. She didn't mind missing the rest as the people wrestling had to wear rather exposing outfits. She thought some of the competitors might be cute, but didn't care. Battsetseg really liked the second day because that was when the archery and horseback race began. The third day was simply to get together with family and friends to have fun. A young boy dressed in a similar red deel rushed over to the bench Battsetseg was on. Battsetseg noted how heavily he was breathing. She stood up and greeted him. "Hello Buhbatar, how are you?" Battsetseg asked sweetly. "I? am? sorry? late." huffed Buhbatar. "That's alright. What happened?" "My parents kept reminding me to meet back with them so I could retreat to the countryside after Naadam is over. You know, to recharge my spiritual respect for nature and so on. They were really worried for some reason and kept repeating the same lecture of the importance of being in tune with nature. You get the idea," explained Buhbatar. /Everyone knows that's what a lot of people do after Naadam. I wonder what that was about/. "We should get going if we want to see the rest of the festival," Battsetseg reminded him. Buhbatar shrugged. Deciding not to give it anymore thought, they started to leave for the stadium. A beeping sound was then heard. The two looked at their sashes and each found a oval shaped device attached. While Buhbatar had one with red trim, Battsetseg's had a blue trim. Before either could figure out what this meant, a nearby computer screen flashed. The bright light seemed to grow and engulf the two kids. When it faded, there was no trace of them. A figure wearing a tan cloak stood nearby having witnessed the event take place. He merely spoke his thoughts out loud while no one was around. "It had begun," he said before disappearing as quickly as he came. ----------------- Battsetseg opened her eyes to find herself in a forest of some type. Battsetseg reached her hand behind her head and felt a small bump. As she was starting to get up, a red lizard looked into her eyes. "Are you alright?" the lizard asked. A expression of shock and confusion ran across Battsetseg's face. "I'm not here to hurt you. I'm your Digimon partner. Don't worry Battsetseg." Now Battsetseg was even more confused. She asked, "How do you know my name?" "Because I told her your name," said a voice she knew belonged to Buhbatar. She turned to see him sitting on a log behind her. "Good to see you're alright. You had me worried when we found you like this awhile back." "Buhbatar, what's going on?" asked a confused Battsetseg. A flying blue and white hamster flew over toward the group. It also spoke, "Hi. I'm Tsukaimon. Nice to meet you." "Hello. Could someone please explain what's going on?" "According to what I gathered from Elecmon and Tsukaimon, we've been selected to save the world." A skeptical look escaped Battsetseg, and he continued. " That device we received before that computer swallowed us is called a D3. It allows us to travel between the real world and this world, the Digital World. The D3 also connects us to Digital Monsters called Digimon. They are like Elecmon and Tsukaimon here. We're called Chosen Children because of this responsibility to protect the two worlds," explained Buhbatar. Battsetseg took all this in and looked over at the still concerned Elecmon. "I'll be fine," reassured Battsetseg. Getting up and dusting her deel off she turned to the others and thanked them for their concern. Tsukaimon took that moment to speak. "I wonder where the others are." ----------------- Ten year old Cholon Arbis brushed dirt out of his unruly brown hair. He looked around. He rubbed his hazel eyes to ensure he wasn't seeing things. /No. This can't be right./ Somehow he had gone from casually walking the streets of Ulaanbaatar to the middle of an open field. His wardrobe had also changed. Before he had been wearing black pants and a T-shirt. He now wore a black outfit like ones worn by nomads or herders who lived outside the city. Even more odd was the gray bear wearing a baseball cap that was currently looking at him curiously. The creature blinked at him and bounced happily. Cholon took all this in and came to a simple and logical conclusion. Okay, I've gone nuts. "Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello! Hello..." spoke the creature happily as it bounced up and down. "Quiet! I heard you! Now who.. no what are you?" demanded the annoyed Cholon. The bear creature backed down slightly embarrassed. "I'm sorry. I'm Bearmon a Digital Monster called a Digimon. You're human? Aren't you?" At a nod, the Bearmon happily bounced along again. "If you have a Digivice or D3 that means you're a Chosen Child and must be my partner. He said you'd come for me." Curious to what this creature was talking about, Cholon resisted the urge to kick it into the field. "What's a Digi-whatever and a Chosen who? And who said I'd come for you?" "That device on your belt is a D3. It proves you're a Chosen Child. See how it's vibrating the closer I get to you? If you're a Chosen Child that means we're bounded to each other and are meant to save the world. I know this because Ilya said so. " Cholon found a white oval device with black trim and examined it. One of Bearmon's paws touched the screen and caused a glow to erupt from the device. "See! It reacted to me because I'm your partner! This proves you're a Chosen Child! We can work together to save the two worlds now." Bearmon continued his little dance while Cholon continued to get angrier at the antics. "Fine. How do I get back? No. Wait! I'll find it myself." A very irritated Cholon then stomped away much to the protests of Bearmon who followed him. Cholon stomped and kicked at any unfortunate root that got in his way while continuing his march. Angry eyes watched from behind holes in the trees. ----------------- A black haired eight year old girl opened her pink colored eyes. The first thing Oyon Saihan realized when she awoke was that she was no longer alone. She had remembered waking up to find a oval shaped with green trim laying next to her in bed. The computer in her room then went crazy and the next thing she knew she was in a different place with a pink eared white dog that looked at her hungrily. The young girl did the first thing that came to instinct. She screamed. "OW! Mine not doing that? I have sensitive ears," spoke the strange dog. Oyon immediately calmed down and studied the bizarre creature. "Wait, that's impossible. You're a dog. Dogs can't talk." The dog replied back. "That's because I'm not a normal dog. I'm Labramon. I'm a type of Digimon which is short for Digital Monster. We're currently in the Digital World. The Digital World is connected with your world in more ways than imaginable. Since you're a human you must be my partner. That device on your clothes is a D3. It's a symbol for the connection between a Chosen Child and their partner. Ilya told me all of ?" "Hold on! You're going too fast." Labramon smirked as she noticed the girl was scribbling notes on the ground with a stick. "Don't worry about that right now, hold out your D3. If it flashes you're indeed my Chosen partner. " Oyon did as instructed and watched in amazement as the device flashed upon contact with Labramon's paw. Somehow Labramon's words brought comfort to Oyon. The fact the device reacted to Labramon and confirming that this was her partner was just as reassuring. Labramon's face was serious as the light faded from the D3. Ilya had not spoken falsely. This girl was indeed the one Labramon had been waiting to meet. Now that there was no uncertainty in her mind, Labramon felt relieved. Suddenly, voices were heard coming toward the pair. Labramon took a defensive stance to protect Oyon. Oyon looked on uncertain what was about to transpire. As the voices got closer, Labramon recognized one of the pairs of voices and relaxed. "So this Ilya person told you virtually everything about us? Is he a human like us or a Digimon?" an older boy wearing a red deel asked a flying white and blue flying hamster. His other companions consisted a girl of similar age wearing a blue deel and beside her was a red lizard. "Yes. And um? we're not sure. He appears like a human but smells just like a regular Digimon," replied the hamster. "Hi guys, I see you found your partners too," said Labramon and motioned toward Oyon. Labramon then looked slighty embarrassed and continued. "I'm sorry strangers. I'm Labramon and this is my human companion Oyon. You are?" "I'm Battsetseg and this is Elecmon," said the older girl with a smile. "This is Tsukaimon and I'm Buhbatar," the older boy introduced. "Hey, how come my clothes are different?" wondered Oyon. Oyon had just noticed the outfit she was wearing. While she had wearing pajamas when she was at home, she and everyone else now wore a traditional Mongolian deel. Battsetseg and Buhbatar maintained their deels from the real world. Battsetseg still wore blue. Buhbatar wore red. Oyon now wore green. "Good question. Ilya says this sort of thing wouldn't be uncommon when you came here," answered Elecmon. Tsukaimon thought of something. "Wasn't there a fourth member of this group? Where's Bearmon?" A scream erupted from a forest nearby. "Oh, I guess that must be him," said Tsukaimon in a bored voice. The three children and Digimon set forth into the forest. The Digimon ran into the forest first. The group stopped and looked at the situation before them. A couple of dead trees were knocking a small bear around. Others were surrounding a boy a few years younger than the Battsetseg and Buhbatar but still older than Oyon. The other Digimon launched themselves into battle to protect their friend. Their partners yelled out words of encouragement to them. Tsukaimon shot gusts of air and knocked a few of the trees off balance. Elecmon's electric attacks knocked them to the ground. After getting them piled into a single group, Labramon let loose a sonic howl which made the trees start to stager and crack. Bearmon, wanting some payback, curled himself into a ball and launched himself at the trees. The trees went flying and landed on the ground hard. The trees decided they'd had enough trouble for today and decided to go rest elsewhere. "See, I told you I could protect you from those Woodmon Cholon," said Bearmon with some confidence. "Yeah, you did such a good job too," said Cholon sarcastically. Battsetseg approached Cholon and offered him a hand up. Cholon ignored it and got up by himself. Buhbatar shot Cholon a dirty look. Oyon just watched not sure what was wrong. "Everyone this is my partner Cholon. I'm Bearmon," Bearmon introduced. "And these are.." "Enough. Just tell me how to get home," growled Cholon. Labramon sighed and led everyone to a Television Set deeper in the woods. "Hold your D3 out to it and say 'Digiport Open!'" Tsukaimon instructed. Not another word was spoken as Cholon immediately did as instructed and left. "He's not a team player," grumbled Buhbatar. "What should we do now?" asked Battsetseg. "Well since it's getting late you all should return home. Take a few days to absorb all you've learned and then come back. Hopefully, by then Cholon will have decided to rejoin us too," suggested Bearmon. Everyone agreed on this and exited in the same fashion as Cholon after giving farewells to their partners. After returning with less than graceful landings, they each found a small handheld terminal exactly where they had been before entering the Digital World. The same message was on each of them. Greetings Chosen Children, You've been selected to embark on an adventure that is vital to the survival of this world and the Digital World. It is important that you all return to the Digital World and work with your partners to ensure peace is restored. Ilya Each child closed the terminal and returned to the activities they had been in the process of before the incident. The four knew that their lives would never be the same. ----------------- Author's notes: Next time: *The Orb of Rebirth. -* After all the holiday celebration is over, the Chosen return and learn more about their reason for being summoned. Yeah, I know it's kind of short, but I'm new to this. Don't worry, I'll update when I find the time. Nomadic Diaries will be the only thing on my plate for now. I hope everyone enjoyed this. Constructive Criticism is welcome. This means tell me what was good and then what could use work. I'm getting all my information about Mongolia from the internet. If I get anything wrong about Mongolia and you notice, please email me. This would be greatly appreciated as I don't live anywhere near Mongolia but want to provide a good representation of it.
